“There’s a lion that isn’t a lion. A wall that talks and the moon comes down with a dog and everybody’s killing themselves but there’s no blood, and I’m in a play, but I don’t know the words. I’M NAKED AND I DON’T KNOW THE WORDS!!!”
The story of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as re-lived through the fevered nightmares of Shakespeare’s most neglected fairy. Funny, heart-breaking and everso slightly crazed, i, peaseblossom is a gloriously anarchic dream of a ‘dream’, perfect for children and adults alike.
“Writer Tim Crouch makes an unlikely fairy as he gambols around the stage in pink flowered wellingtons and wings. That he looks like a bit of a bruiser only adds to the comedy. For those who don’t know A Midsummer Night’s Dream the show is a great introduction as Crouch plays around with Shakespeare’s prose in an accessible way. But for anyone with knowledge of the full events leading up to the weddings, I, Peaseblossom is a treat which looks at the story of that crazy midsummer night from the point of view of one of the smaller characters.”
Bath Chronicle, March 2006
“Peaseblossom only has four words in the original play but, thanks to Crouch, the fairy now has an army of opinions on marriage, growing up and losing your teeth. Set at dawn after the night of the triple weddings, Peaseblossom has a series of increasingly bizarre dreams. He is pursued by a ‘red-hipped humble bee’; falls in love with a punter called Phil and is convinced he’s naked in a show where he’s forgotten the lines. Crouch switched effortlessly between rhetoric and whimsical audience banter and with lines such as ‘Something’s going to happen. I can feel it in my waters. In my fairy liquids,’ you can’t help but love him.”

“Days later, I still have children – and their parents – coming to see me full of enthusiasm and joy from your fabulous performance. You were an inspiration – for the children, in having that fabulous experience – and for me, being re-inspired with more ideas for drama in school. Thank you!”
Nina Jefferies, Aloeric School, Melksham
“I thought the play was fantastic! It brought enjoyment to the whole audience. It was a funny story which was very amazing and I enjoyed every moment of it. It was fantastically performed with humour.”
